Course includes general standard first aid skills, as well as in depth patient assessment, evacuation decision-making and techniques, use of available resources for rescue efforts, and a variety of other topics not covered in the Standard First Aid course. Confronting Climate Change

In conjunction with the Appalachian Mountain Club, we offer a presentation called Confronting Climate Change. This course is modifiable to be appropriate for elementary, middle or high school students, as well as for adults. It provides some background to what climate change means, but its strength is in pointing out how climate change has already begun to impact outdoor activities in the north east and its expected impact in the future. It also give very clear steps that individuals can take to have a postive affect on the environment and climate change, from small ones to large ones. These are refered to as the "three degrees of change". A great presentation that gives you something concrete to walk away with.

Cold Water Safety

Learn some fundamental first aid, the hazards of cold water activities, steps to prevent hypothermia, general water rescue techniques, and where to find out more information on all these topics. This course was sponsored by the CCRI Outdoor Club. Contact the Club Advisor, Jody Robinson for more information.
